Burglar in Rudolph mask wanted by police for pre-Christmas heist
Just in time for the holidays, Rudolph has been officially sighted in Fort Collins, Colo. But sadly, instead of helping Santa navigate a foggy Christmas Eve, this Rudolph used her shining bright nose to spot items she allegedly stole.
The video, shared by Fort Collins police, features a woman wearing a large Rudolph mask entering a business and stuffing objects into a bag. The disguise was for naught, however, as she removed the mask and looked directly in a security camera. Now, police are hoping the video will help them bring the alleged burglar to justice.
Officers on the force are so dedicated to identifying the woman that they even rewrote the classic song and included the revised lyrics in the Facebook post. The first verse said: “Rudolph the Red Nosed Burglar/ Had a very shady scheme/ And if you saw the video/ It would want to make you scream.” Their version ended with an appeal: “Oh how the camera caught her/ As she committed burglary/ Rudolph the Red Nosed Criminal/ We need your help with her I.D.”
According to the Denver Post, the business that was allegedly burglarized sells animal feed, so maybe Rudolph was just doing the rest of Santa’s reindeer a solid.
“If you have any info about this incident or know suspect’s identity, let us know so we can notify St. Nick,” the post asked.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime or the suspect to call an officer with Fort Collins police at 970-221-6555 or to call Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
