In a video shared to Butterball's official TikTok account, representatives from the tasty turkey brand followed the viral "This or That" challenge in order to show viewers what to do and what not to do before your turkey hits the table.
For their first tip in turkey prep, the experts provided two options: to wash or not to wash. According to the clip, you actually don't need to wash your turkey, despite what you may have thought!
The next do's and don't's had to do with thawing your turkey, considering they are often purchased frozen. The experts in the video say you should thaw your turkey in cold water or in the refrigerator, rather than the alternative of trying to thaw a turkey outside.

The Butterball reps also had some helpful tips for storing your turkey after eating, because—let's be honest—who doesn't love Thanksgiving leftovers? According to their advice, leftovers should be stored within 2 hours rather than be left out while you continue with the rest of your turkey day festivities. So remember to store your leftovers before hitting the eggnog!
Next, in perhaps the most surprising tip of all, the experts talk about basting, and whether you should do it while the bird is cooking. According to Butterball, you actually shouldn't baste the turkey during cooking—who knew?
And finally, the experts instruct viewers and Thanksgiving hosts to always use a thermometer while cooking your turkey to ensure a tasty and safe meal.
