C.A.S.Ting and reeling in more opportunities with the Capper Foundation
LECOMPTON (KSNT) – Kids with special needs got the opportunity to go out and learn everything about finishing Saturday, September 14.
The Capper Foundation and C.A.S.T For Kids’ Foundation have teamed up for the third year in a row to offer this event at the lone oak private lake for families.
35 kids got the opportunity to be buddied up with a volunteer and learned everything there is to know about fishing.
From the preparation, to casting, all the way to reeling their prize back in and snapping that photo.
“It’s great to get these kids outdoors and get the kids and their families out and show them that they are able to fish,” Jeff Barnes, Eastern regional director for C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, said. “Maybe an activity that they can do together as a family after the event on their own.”
C.A.S.T For Kids Foundation hosts events nationally but has only one in Kansas.
The fishermen and women of the day get a plaque with a picture of them and their buddy to commemorate their day.
