CAA and Wasserman Foundation Partner to Launch School Day 2024

CAA and Wasserman Foundation have joined efforts to announce School Day 2024, a Los Angeles county-wide call to action for entertainment industry partners to provide additional resources to teachers, students and classrooms.

Kicking off Saturday, companies are encouraged to adopt an L.A. school for a day of service, mentor program, and/or provide essential financial resources.

“Supporting students and educators has long been a focus for CAA, and a cause I am personally passionate about,” stated CAA co-chairman Richard Lovett. “For many years, I volunteered at Venice High School, teaching a weekly class to help empower our future leaders. I know firsthand that our time and resources on campus is a worthwhile investment, and part of our commitment to creating a brighter, more equitable future for everyone. We urge our peers to join our School Day efforts to provide LAUSD with essential support and resources.”

CAA is hosting a school beautification event with City Year of Los Angeles at Saturn Street Elementary School, while Wasserman Foundation is hosting a career day for students and renovating Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights.

“I believe that a good education is an absolute right and not a privilege. In order to have a successful community, city, and society we must provide strong opportunities to all students regardless of their zip code,” said Wasserman Foundation CEO/president and LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games chairman Casey Wasserman. “In an effort to level the playing field, the Wasserman Foundation has been working over the past 14 year to renovate schools and give needed resources. I am thrilled to join CAA and a growing list of LA companies this year in a coordinated manner to bring much-needed attention to and garner additional funds our schools.”

Other participating companies include FOX, Paramount Pictures, the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, SnapChat, Amazon, Bad Robot, the Los Angeles Rams, the Walt Disney Company, the Guitar Center Music Foundation, OBB Media, the Chargers, AEG and NBCUniversal.

“External stakeholders’ targeted, strategic, and collaborative investments in our schools can create a lasting, positive impact,” said Los Angeles Unified School District superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho. “I hope School Day will create the opportunity to celebrate our partners who show up ready to help students, and we look forward to welcoming more supporters to join forces with us to ensure our kids are ready for the world.”
