Outlander's Caitriona Balfe left her corsets and wool shawls back on set this evening, and instead is dressed in a striking Maison Valentino haute couture gown on the Oscars red carpet.

She just arrived for her first Academy Awards ever wearing the black and pink dress which features a mermaid silhouette and a sheer pink overlay that ties at the neck in a big bow.

While on the runway, the look was accessorized with bright red gloves, Balfe, instead paired the outfit with statement pearl earrings, a slick back hairstyle, and a bold red lip.

Balfe has been busy this year; in addition to her ongoing role as Clare Fraser on the popular time travel drama, she also starred as Mollie Miles in Ford v Ferrari, a film which is nominated for best picture tonight.

And she recently wrote on Instagram that she "[feels] very lucky to be out promoting two projects I love so much."

But Balfe won't have much time off after the awards ceremony because season five of Outlander premieres just one week from today on Sunday, February 16.

"This character has been such a gift to me," she recently wrote about Outlander's Claire. "I am so grateful I’ve been given the chance to bring her to life and even after 5 seasons she continues to inspire me and surprise me.... Can’t wait for you all to see season 5 ... We’ve all worked hard on it and we hope you will love it."
