Call of Duty: WW2 is going back to its roots with an updated version of the original Carentan map
We already knew Call of Duty: WW2was going back to how it started given its name, but it looks like that's extending to more than just theme: Carentan is being updated, and will be available to anyone who owns Call of Duty: WW2's Season Pass at launch.
Appearing in Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, and Call of Duty 2, Carentan puts you in a French town that's been partially destroyed due to a destructive battle over a German stronghold. It's loosely based on the real life Battle of Carentan, which took play between June 10 and June 15, 1944. Forces from the United States pushed German forces back, establishing a position that would be key in the continuing Battle of Normandy. The real life Carentan nowadays is a small rural town in Normandy.
People have been speculating if Carentan would be returning to the Call of Duty: WW2 after a leak showed off an image of the Season Pass, which included mention of Carentan. Looks like the leak was accurate!
The extent to which Carentan has changed hasn't been revealed, and there's no trailer or array of screenshots to go alongside the announcement. Whether it's more of a graphical upgrade or a complete revamp is yet to be seen. Given the original design, and typical level design of rural towns, you can probably expect it to be a short to mid range combat area, where fast firing but inaccurate weapons will do well.
Call of Duty WWII Where to buy
