The Cambridges and Sussexes Will Be Living Just 5 Minutes Apart in September but Have “No Plans” to Meet
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are heading back to the United Kingdom in September to attend a couple of events, and naturally everyone wants to know if they’ll be hanging out with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Answer: Doesn’t sound like it. Despite the fact that they’ll be neighbors.
The Sun reports that the Sussexes will be staying at their Frogmore Cottage home on the Queen’s Windsor estate and will be there just “days” after William and Kate move into their new home Adelaide Cottage—also on the Windsor estate and just 800 meters (or about half a mile) away from the Sussexes’ home. In other words, they’re only a five-minute walk away from each other.
But despite the close distance, sources tell The Sun that there are “no plans” for the couples to meet up during the trip and note that William and Harry are barely on speaking terms at the moment.
It seems likely that Harry and Meghan will at least see the Queen (who Harry is extremely close to) during their visit, but sources also note that it’s a busy time for her: “It is expected family conversations will take place to see if there is any space in their diaries—but there is a lot on, especially for the Queen.”
Meghan and Harry arrive in England on September 5 for the One Young World Summit and then—after a quick trip to Germany—are expected back on September 8. Their spokesperson confirmed the trip on Monday, saying, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.”
