You can now buy Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stamps
Those of you on a last-minute hunt for the best royal merchandise money can buy need look no further, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have given this must-have the ultimate stamp of approval.
The United Kingdom’s Royal Mail has launched a set of four stamps in celebration of the upcoming royal wedding, and the queen gave the final nod before they went to press.
The commemorative set of four stamps depicts the couple’s now-famous engagement photographs, which were shot by Alexi Lubomirski at Frogmore House. The New York City-based photographer will also take their wedding photos on the big day at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England.
The first-class stamp features an image of the soon-to-be newlyweds holding hands on the steps of their reception venue, Frogmore House.
In the images, Markle sports a couture dress by Ralph & Russo, the fashion house rumored to be behind the 36-year-old’s wedding dress.
The stamps also feature the date of the upcoming wedding, while Her Majesty’s traditional emblem sits in the top right-hand corner.
“We wanted to use the black-and-white image, which is the slightly more informal picture, because we felt it gave a nice balance to the two images,” the Royal Mail’s stamp strategy manager, Philip Parker, revealed about the design.
“Every new stamp is approved by Her Majesty, and so we obtained the approval of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle but then also submitted to Buckingham Palace for approval of the whole sheet,” he added.
The miniature set costs £4.44 ($6.01 U.S.) and is expected to fly off the shelves in a way similar to how the Prince William and Kate Middleton’s commemorative stamps did in 2011.
The Royal Mail is also offering a presentation pack, which includes an illustrated brochure for £4.95 ($6.70). Meanwhile, the royal wedding bundle includes a presentation pack, stamp sheet souvenir, and a royal wedding souvenir for £32.12 ($43.46).
More serious collectors can invest in the limited-edition gold proof coin cover in collaboration with the Royal Mint, which comes with an eye-popping price tag of £1,975 ($2,672), because only 50 will be released.
The Royal Mail’s souvenirs will launch on the morning of May 19 and are available to preorder now. But note to U.S. buyers: Collect all you like, but remember that the stamps are valid only in the U.K.
