Canal Winchester's annual Blues and Ribfest to be held July 26-27

Canal Winchester's annual Blues and Ribfest will take place from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 26 and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 27. In historic downtown Canal Winchester, this two-day summer street celebration features free live blues music, world-class ribs, a variety of quality non-rib food options, children's activities, fan-cooled dining areas, and a beer garden. The festival takes place within Canal Winchester’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) where adult beverages are permitted.

Families are welcome and admission is free.

Music in the Park

Music in the Park happens July 19 in Canal Winchester, It will feature a cruise-in with music provided by the Gas Pump Jockeys, from 6 to 9 pm.

Music in the Park is a free summer concert series, featuring live entertainment and family-friendly activities at Stradley Park in historic downtown Canal Winchester.

Attendees are invited to bring picnic dinner, stop by a food truck, or carry-out from one of the area’s downtown restaurants.

Farmers Market

Destination: Canal Winchester's Summer Farmers' Market continues every Saturday from 9 am to Noon through the end of September. It happens at CW Area Historical Society's complex located at 100 N. High Street.

Join vendors and shoppers for a season of fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh eggs and honey, fresh baked pies, cookies, breads, jellies, jams, home decor and more.

Check out the Kids' Craft at the craft table each week. Children are welcome to help build a quilt inside the school house all summer long.

The market runs through the end of September. Check the CW Farmers' Market Facebook page each Friday for a list of vendors who will be attending the following Saturday.

Yoga in the Park

Connect with nature during Saturday morning yoga classes at McGill Park in Canal Winchester. Expect slow, flowing movement and breathing practices to build strength and increase flexibility and balance. Walking meditation will be included.

Yoga in the Park is offered through the Canal Winchester Joint Recreation District. This is for all levels of experience. Participants should wear comfortable clothing, and bring a yoga mat or blanket.

Classes will be led by experienced yoga teacher Elizabeth Wood. McGill Park is located at 6725 Lithopolis-Winchester Road. Register at www.cwrecreation.com.

Senior outing

Canal Winchester Senior Citizens Group is planning an outing for area senior citizens on Wednesday, July 17. The group plans to attend the CAPA Summer Movie Series at Ohio Theatre for a showing of Viva Las Vegas. This movie is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Also, organist Clark Wilson (celebrating his 33rd year) will be providing pre show entertainment at the Ohio Theatre’s treasured “Mighty Morton” organ. The cost to attend the movie is $4.

Prior to the movie, attendees plan to eat dinner at TAT Restaurant. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Those that want to go to the dinner should be prepared to leave Canal Winchester Human Services located at 80 Covenant Way, at 5:30 p.m.
