Candace Cameron Bure Apologizes After Fans Called Her Latest TikTok ‘Weird’ and ‘Seductive’
Apart from sharing glimpses of her life with fans on Instagram, Candace Cameron Bure also keeps up with the latest trends on TikTok. But the Full House actress was met with unexpected criticism after creating her most recent video on the platform.
In her TikTok, set to Lana Del Rey’s song “Jealous Girl,” Candace adjusts her hair before beginning to lip-synch to the lyrics, “Baby, I’m a gangster too and it takes two to tango/You don’t wanna dance with me, dance with me.” The 45-year-old Hallmark star then looks directly into the camera before grabbing a Bible.
“When they don’t know the power of the Holy Spirit,” she captioned the TikTok.
After sharing the video on her page, the mother of three also posted it on her Instagram. Turns out, her followers had a lot to say about the 13-second clip. In a rare move, the Hallmark star took to her Instagram Stories that same day and apologized.
“I just came home and read a lot of messages that were not happy with my latest Instagram post that was a TikTok video,” she said. “And I usually don’t apologize for these things, but a lot of you thought it was weird, and I’m sorry. That was not my intention. I was using a very specific clip from TikTok and applying it to the power of the Holy Spirit, which is incredible.”
She continued: “And so many of you thought that I was trying to be seductive, which clearly means I’m not a very good actress because I was trying to be strong, not sexy or seductive. So, I guess that didn’t work, but I deleted it.”
Candace explained that she first saw this kind of video on her 22-year-old daughter Natasha’s TikTok page.
“I was trying to do my own version of it with the Bible and talk about the Holy Spirit that basically nothing can trump the Holy Spirit and we only know that by reading the Bible,” she said. “Maybe I was just trying to be too cool or relevant in a Biblical way that didn’t work. Anyway, most of you didn’t like it, clearly, but there was a small percentage of you that appreciated what I did and understood my intention. But anyway, it’s gone. Now I know what you don’t like.”
While Candace removed the video from her Instagram page, it’s still up on her TikTok page. With over 200,000 likes, the comments section is flooded with supportive and encouraging words.
Whichever way you may see it, Candace has said her piece and she’s moving on.
