I Can't Start My Day Without This $12 Ice Roller From Amazon
Hi, I'm Amanda, and my face hurts. I'm one of those lucky people who holds a ton of tension in my face—I find myself mindlessly clenching my jaw while I'm sitting at my desk at work, while I'm powering through a tough workout, and even while I sleep.
I've tried a lot of products to help relieve the nagging pain. I've written about one of my favorites before, a night protector that helps with the whole sleep-clenching thing. But here's the thing I've learned about wearing a night protector: Most nights, I'm dragging myself into bed with my eyes half-closed and forget to put it in at all. I've definitely lost it on a trip before. And it still doesn't fix the problem when I come home after a particularly stressful, my-jaw-feels-like-it's-made-of-cement kinda day.
Anyway, when I discovered the Esarora Ice Roller on Amazon and read some of the 1,700 (!) 5-star reviews—AND it was under $12—I snatched it up on Prime immediately. The concept is super simple: You keep the ice roller in your freezer (I store mine in a reusable freezer bag) and run it across your face whenever you need it.
The first morning I used it, I had woken up sans night protector and felt the familiar ache. I let the ice roller defrost for a sec—it gets super cold!—and then proceeded to give myself the most delightful, rejuvenating face massage of all time. I rolled it down my jaw and neck until the tension melted away.
What I didn't expect? The coldness also totally woke me up in the best way. I now find myself reaching for the my roller on those sleepy mornings when my eyes and cheeks feel super puffy and lifeless. (Remember the old trick where you keep a spoon in the freezer to revive your tired undereyes? It's like that, plus a massage.)
Also, let's be real. It's summer. It's hot AF. I've come home so many times after a sweaty day out, or even just one of those workouts that it takes forever to cool down from, and grabbed my ice roller first thing. Stick your head in the freezer, but make it self-care, you know?
This product is truly for everyone. Scanning the reviews, a lot of people say that it helps relieve pain associated with migraines, tension headaches, sinus infections, TMJ, and even inflamed acne. Many users also suggest using it at the end of your usual skincare routine to help massage the products into your skin. And I'm low-key about to pack it in the cooler for my next pool day, just saying.
At the very least, you get a nice cold face massage that feels way more luxurious than splashing chilly water all over the bathroom (I've been there, and I see you). For $12, I promise, you can't go wrong.
