Captain America: Brave New World First Footage Unveiled
The first footage from Captain America: Brave New World has been unveiled.
Shown off at Disney’s presentation during CinemaCon, attendees were treated to an advanced look at the third Captain America film behind closed doors.
The clip that Disney showed involved Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) heading to the White House to meet Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford), former head of Shield who’s now president of the United States.
Ross tells Wilson he wants to reunite the Avengers, who haven’t been a united team under one banner since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ross, mind you, was the original figure behind their demise, opening up a deep rift by getting them to sign a government contract in Captain America: Civil War.
During their meeting, however, Wilson suspects Ross has ulterior motives. Suddenly, an unknown villain takes over the speakers and mind-controls Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), a super-serum-injected former soldier introduced in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Wilson grapples with Bradley before a montage kicks in. No doubt abbreviated for time, and probably not how it’ll appear in the final cut, the montage reveals more of the White House fight, with Wilson using his Captain America shield to stave off attacks from multiple mind-controlled Secret Service agents.
The last shot sees Wilson confront Ross inside the Oval Office. “You’re not Steve Rogers,” says Ross, a line that seems to acknowledge Marvel fans who objected to Anthony Mackie picking up the Captain America mantle. “You’re right, I’m not,” Wilson replies. The footage ends with a look at the new Captain America suit, a silver and blue number that looks a lot like the one we saw in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Captain America: Brave New World releases February 14, 2025.
