Cardi B responds to mommy shamers attacking her provocative outfit: 'Can I be sexy one time and not get called a slut?'
Cardi B is anything but predictable. The rapper and recording artist is as famous for her say-anything social-media style as she is for her music. Recently, she made headlines for using her social media platform to take on President Trump and the government shutdown. Now she’s raising eyebrows for a slew of Instagram posts she did Saturday surrounding the AVN Awards Show, often called the “Oscars of Porn.”
In the posts, four in total, Cardi B rocked three different lingerie looks — one in red, one in blue and one in green — and made sure to used her captions to double down on the NSFW nature of her posts. “AVN awards….. I’m a little pornstar today 😩well I’m a pornstar whenever you want me to be 😜😜😜😜” she captioned one of the images.

While a lot of the comments the posts received are in support of Cardi and her confidence, a fair share of them scold her for wearing these looks because she’s a mom (her daughter, Kulture, is six months old). One post in particular, in which she shared two boomerangs of her pantomiming sex and masturbation, has already gotten over 70,000 comments and has people particularly upset.
“You are def doing to much,” one follower wrote. “Where is you baby daddy. Why can’t he mature you. YOUR A MOTHER NOW !!!” “You are a mom Cardi, a f***ing mom,” commented another. Others expressed concern that Cardi’s younger fans would see this. “I can see a lot of kids looking up to u. Not to impressive,” one fan commented. “That’s a bit much too put on the Instagram Remember kids use this too,” wrote another.

But many of Cardi B’s fans came to her defense, saying what she was posting had nothing to do with her own child or other people’s children: “Parents should be their own kids role models!!! That’s our job! Everybody wants to have a problem with everything! If you don’t like it move along and let the ones that love it enjoy…” one fan noted.
Cardi B’s sister Hennessy Carolina also commented in Cardi’s defense. “I hate when people wanna say ‘you need to be a good example to kids’ like who are you Elmo, Barnie do you work at Disney channel? why do people kids have instagram anyways? pleaseeeee, YOU LOOK HOTTTTT! And im glad your getting your confidence back after bby girl.”
Others who are coming out in support of Cardi B? Those in the adult entertainment business. “You have NO idea how happy it makes us in the Adult Film world that no matter how big of a Star you are: You still support those of us being judged by mainstream. Love you forever,” commented adult film star Chris Crocker.
In addition to attending the AVN Awards, Cardi also performed. “We are beyond thrilled to be welcoming Cardi B to perform at the 2019 AVN Awards,” AVN president Tony Rios told XXL Magazine. “Our audience is in for a treat with her performance. For the first time in more than three decades, we will have an all-female cast — our co-hosts, our comedian and our musical guest.”
Whatever side of this debate you land on, one thing seems definite: Cardi B is going to keep on doing exactly what she wants.
“Can I be sexy one time and not get called a slut? Sheeesh!” she posted on Instagram Sunday. Along with another photo from the oh-so-controversial lingerie series.
