Cardi B Is Trademarking Her Iconic Catchphrase ‘Okurrr’
Thanks to Cardi B, the phrase “Okurrr!” can be heard just about anywhere. So, it’s no surprise the 26-year-old rapper is trying to trademark the iconic catchphrase.
That’s right, Cardi B submitted not one, not two, but three applications to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office back in February, according to Rolling Stone.
The first one is seeking exclusive clothing rights, which means other retailers will be banned from using “okurrr” on T-shirts, shorts, jackets, footwear, hats, undergarments, leggings and pretty much any type of merchandise.
The second “okurrr” filing is specific to paper goods, including cups, bags and posters.
Last but not least, the third application covers the incorrect spelling of “okurr” (with two r’s). You know, just in case someone wanted to dupe the original.
We first learned about Cardi B’s catchphrase back in April 2018 when she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and revealed that she has multiple variations.
“It’s like a cold pigeon in New York City,” she said. “It depends on the situation that you’re in.”
Hey, at least she covered all her bases.
