Carey Mulligan Is a Glamorous Vision in a Plunging Strapless Gown
Carey Mulligan was a glamorous vision at the international premiere of her forthcoming movie She Said.
The Promising Young Woman actress attended the BFI London Film Festival premiere of the highly anticipated film, where she wore a classic black gown that included a bright update to a favored Old Hollywood silhouette. Her strapless dress, which came from Armani Privé's fall 2022 collection, featured a plunging sweetheart neckline and a structural panel on the bodice, a Barbie-pink wave that extended down the neckline and jutted out slightly at the hip.
The star kept focus on the gown, finishing the look with black pointed-toe heels and a pair of diamond stud earrings. Her hair was styled in a short wavy bob and her makeup included a natural complexion and a bold red lip.
Based on the book of the same name, She Said depicts journalists Meghan Twohey and Jodi Kantor's groundbreaking New York Times investigation into Harvey Weinstein's decades of sexual misconduct. In a Vanity Fair interview, Twohey applauded Mulligan's careful treatment of the journalist's relationship with postpartum depression, which is depicted in the film.
The Drive actress then opened up about drawing from her own postpartum experience, after welcoming her daughter Evelyn Grace in 2017. She revealed that going back to work on her 2015 film Suffragette helped her heal.
"It was either cancel the whole thing or just get on and do it," she said. "And that — and a combination of lots of other things, and help and support from everyone around me — was my light. So, Megan and I talked about that, and we both shared what we had both been through, like so many women have been through."
In addition to their daughter, Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford welcomed their son, Wilfred, in 2017.
