The west coast has Carl's Jr. and the east has Hardee's, but for a limited time, everyone gets dollar sliders. The co-owned fast food chains, known for their $5 All Star Meals, are trying their hand at mini burgers this month, and they're definitely easy on the wallet.

The new charbroiled sliders come with American cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and diced onions, and your choice of one, two, or three beef patties. Single patties cost a buck, doubles sell for $1.50, and triples for $2. During happy hour, which takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily, you can get doubles for $1 each.

Since sliders alone might not fill you up, both restaurants are also offering a Charbroiled Sliders All Star Meal option. For $5, you can get two Double Charbroiled Sliders, fries, a 20-ounce drink, and a chocolate chip cookie.

Other All Star meal options include a Double Cheeseburger and Onion Rings, Double Cheeseburger and Hot Dog, Chicken Tenders, or a Double Cheeseburger and Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Moral of the story: Five bucks will go far at either spot.

And while it's unlikely anyone's getting these burgers to be healthy, it's worth noting that despite being small, the burgers are still pretty high in calories. A single slide isn't terrible, with 230 calories and 11 grams of fat, but order a triple slider and you're looking at 470 calories and 29 grams of fat.

This is the first time the restaurants are offering sliders, and they're scheduled to be on menus through April 24, Brand Eating reports. Between these and the return of the McDonald's Value Menu, it seems fast food brands are working hard to give the people what they want - more food on the cheap.
