Carole Baskin Says She’s Been Getting Death Threats Since ‘Tiger King’ Aired

From Cosmopolitan

  • Tiger King’s Carole Baskin says that she’s been receiving death threats.

  • She also says that people have been showing up to the Big Cat sanctuary even though it’s closed.

For some reason, after watching seven hours of Netflix’s Tiger King, the thing that people are most upset about is not Doc Antle’s whole “apprentices”/girlfriends/wives situation or his alleged gassing of tigers, or even Joe Exotic’s alleged abuse of animals, but rather Carole Baskin’s missing husband. And, to use one of my favorite TikTok memes, I don’t know if it’s sexist, but it don’t feel right.

Anyways, while Joe Exotic is thrilled with his new-found fame and Doc Antle is giving interviews about what it was like working with Britney Spears, Carole Baskin is dodging death threats and doesn’t even feel safe in her house. And, again, according to police, she’s not even a suspect in the disappearance of her husband!

On Friday, Carole gave her first interview since Tiger King aired, and she told the Tampa Bay Times, “I just feel so angry that people have totally missed the point. And the point is these cubs are being abused and exploited, and the public is enabling that.”

The outlet reports that Carole “fears leaving home because of the death threats that flooded in after the series aired.” Carole adds that she’s seen drones flying over her home and crowds “lingering” at the Big Cat sanctuary gates even though it’s been closed since before the series aired due to coronavirus. (Also, those people really should be social distancing instead of trying to stalk her!)

No matter what you think about Carole, this isn’t okay—if she did have a part in her husband’s death, law enforcement will deal with it, but until then, people need to calm TF down.
