Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia Makeup Chart Is Exactly What We Need Right Now
Carrie Fisher was laid to rest on Friday in a joint funeral with her mother, Debbie Reynolds. Loved ones including daughter Billie Lourd and friends Meryl Streep and Courtney Love gathered to pay their respects. Though it would have been impossible for all those who loved Fisher dearly to honor her by attending the service, we can do so in other ways. Like watching all her movies, or reading her books, or just reflecting in a moment of silence for her.
And specifically for the beauty lovers out there, there’s a relic to take in that only true makeup mavens will find soothing — or heart-wrenching.
After Fisher died, the London Cosmetics Museum (an online archive of vintage cosmetics, ads and moments in makeup history curated by British-based makeup artist Xabier Celaya) found and shared a photo of Fisher’s makeup chart from her days as Princess Leia. It was from the set of Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, which was released in 1980.

The Max Factor chart features a printout of a blank face and a list of different products, from Base to Dry Rouge to Body Makeup. Makeup artist Kay Freeborn scribbled on the paper the different products she wanted to use for Fisher, and even drew in some of the colors on the face.
So, if you’ve ever wondered how Princess Leia’s look was made, just look at this chart. It took some Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1, Dior Blush, Clinique Skin Freshener, Mary Quant Blush Baby, and much more.
Oh, and being the independent woman that Fisher was, she did a lot of this herself, like her mascara and lip color.
We wouldn’t judge you if you purchased all these products in honor of the late Princess Leia.
