The singer was not sure about being set up, but when she met Fisher, she felt immediate chemistry with the Canadian hockey star.
“Hot, hot, hot,” Underwood reportedly texted Childers after meeting him, and Fisher definitely felt the same way.
“First time I saw her, she was more beautiful in person than on TV," he said on Behind the Music.

"It's fun to miss somebody," Underwood told Glamour magazine (via Taste of Country). "We talked on the phone for almost three months before we actually got together. That was good for us."
When they finally did meet up in person, their date couldn’t have been more magical. "Our first real date was on New Year's Eve, and our first kiss was when the ball dropped," Underwood said. She added that she made the first move with Fisher.
"We were in front of people, and he's not a big PDA guy," she said. "I figured, I'll go in for it because he can't leave me hanging, right? So I made him kiss me in public."

The couple may have tied the knot in 2010, but it wasn’t until the following year that they actually lived in the same place for the first time. For the first year of their marriage, they were still managing a long-distance relationship between the U.S. and Canada, due to Fisher's professional hockey career with the Ottawa Senators.
However, in 2011, Fisher was traded to the Nashville Predators, allowing him to finally live in the same city as his wife.
"They're a very good team, and it'll be kind of like going home for me. I'm sure my wife won't be disappointed, either," Fisher said on the Senators' website, according to an NHL news release. "But I think it's a great place for me and family and everything."
