The Cast of 'The Crown' Is Hopeful About the Sussexes' Future
On the SAG Awards red carpet, the stars of Netflix's The Crown were asked about what they envision coming next for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since announcing their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family.
"I think the world is their oyster,” said Erin Doherty, who portrays Princess Anne, the queen's daughter, in the show.
The cast of Netflix’s The Crown know the world of the British royal family better than most, but when it comes to the future of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, their opinion of the couple’s decision to step down is similar to the rest of the world’s: uncertain of what will come next, but hopeful nonetheless.
While walking the SAG Award red carpet together. Josh O’Connor, Erin Doherty, and Helena Bonham Carter—who play Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Princess Margaret, respectively, in the series—were asked what future roles they envision the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to soon take on.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family earlier this month. Yesterday, the proposal was finalized by the queen, who revealed that the couple would no longer use the His and Her Royal Highness titles.
“I have no idea,” hilariously quipped Bonham-Carter, donned in a navy, sequined dress and oversized crystal-embellished sunglasses.
“They can probably do anything,” commented O’Connor. “I’m sure they’re very talented and can go off and do whatever they want.”
Doherty, who plays Princess Anne on the hit show’s third season, also chimed in, giving a sincere message of support for the couple.
“I think the world is their oyster,” responded Doherty. “It’ll be very interesting to see what they do but now they’re masters of their own destiny and good luck to them.”
