When a revival season of the hit 2000s home show Trading Spaces was announced, I'll be the first to admit I was a little skeptical - but simultaneously thrilled. It was a show I watched throughout my childhood, my first true intro to interior design. Sure, some of the rooms were way too funky, but it was wildly enjoyable, and if I'm being honest, I had a huge crush on Ty Pennington.

But could a new season top the original series? Oh yes, it could, and it did. Just like that, it was a success for the network. So much so that Deadline reports it took the No. 1 spot in cable - "in its premiere time period, among key women 25-54/18-49 demos," if you want to get nitty gritty - and helped make TLC the No. 2 "cable network on Saturday night with women [aged] 25-54."

So, when they announced they would return in 2019 for another season I couldn't wait for them to begin casting. Good news? It's that time. Bad news? I don't live in the right place, but maybe you do. Here's everything you need to know to be on Trading Spaces:

Here's What It Takes To Get On The Show:

Believe it or not, applying to be on Trading Spaces is relatively easy for both homeowners and renters (with approval from your landlord, of course). Though the application is easy, the network is searching for people with unique stories. Like, you and your neighbor "are both pregnant and due the same week and both need a great nursery?" TLC suggests, "Or, you live next door to your boss, and would LOVE to get your hands on their space." (Because that doesn't sound one moss wall away from getting you F-I-R-E-D.) But, if this sounds like you, apply, apply, apply! Other casting requirements include:

  • All participants must be 18 years old or older when they submit the application.

  • Participants must be next door neighbors or live within 1/4 mile of one another.

  • Qualified participants must swap the home in which they currently reside.

  • Both teams must have a pre-existing relationship. (No fake friends, mmkay?)

  • All participants will undergo a background check upon selection.

  • Applicants must agree to have 1 room renovated/decorated at the "discretion of the designer assigned to their space."

Here's Where They're Casting:

Unfortunately for me (and anyone outside these two cities), the show is only accepting applications from those in or around Los Angeles and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Here's your official casting call from Paige Davis, the host of the show herself:

Here's What The New Season Will Be Like:

Though the number of episodes in season 2 (AKA season 10, if you include the originals) of the Trading Spaces reboot has yet to be determined - since casting is ongoing - it's expected to have more than eight episodes, which the first revival season had. They will come out in 2019.

"We look forward to our designers and carpenters bringing more color, design risk and most of all, fun, into homes across the country in the upcoming season," TLC's President and General Manager, Howard Lee said in an announcement.

Of course, it wouldn't be the same without the longtime host Paige Davis, so it's safe to expect her to return, seeing as though she made the big reveal and all.
