The official cause of death for former child actor Evan Ellingson, who was found dead on Sunday, Nov. 5, has been confirmed.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's coroner, the unfortunate passing has been listed as accidental, as of Tuesday, Nov. 28, after a scheduled autopsy was conducted on Monday, Nov. 6.
Ellingson passed away at his residence earlier this month at the age of 35.
The deceased was known for his role as the son of Cameron Diaz and Jason Patric's characters in 2009 film My Sister's Keeper, as well as his portrayal of Kyle Harmon, the son of David Caruso's Horatio Cane, from 2007 to 2010, on CSI: Miami.
Additionally, he was a series regular on Complete Savages from 2004 to 2005, and played the nephew of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer on award-winning Fox drama, 24.
TMZ previously reported that Ellingson's father told the outlet that the actor struggled with addiction and died in a sober-living home, and that the death was being investigated as a possible overdose.
As Parade previously reported, Evan's movie costar Abigail Breslin penned a touching tribute a day after his passing was reported, remembering her on-screen brother. She wrote, "Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished."
Her message continued: "I didn’t keep in touch a lot with him after the film, but he always stayed in my mind as a wonderful and sweet soul, one I am grateful to have crossed paths with."
The former star had stopped acting after his final TV series appearance on the Florida-based crime drama in 2010.
