Some celebrity couples have had so many ups and downs that it takes several online searches for relationship timelines to get the facts straight. Here are all the celebrities that make paparazzi dizzy with their hot and cold romantic interactions.
Justin and Hailey Bieber
Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber (Baldwin) first met in 2009 when Hailey was only 12 and was at a fan event with her dad. In 2016, the two dated and rang in the new year together with a kiss. They went their separate ways that year, and Justin went on to date Sofia Richie and then Selena Gomez again. In June 2018, Justin rekindled things with Hailey. By September 2018, Hailey and Justin were married.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
By May of 2016, these two were an official item. That summer, nude photos of Bloom paddle-boarding went viral, as did the rest of their relationship. By the 2016 election, they had nailed their Halloween-couple costumes. By March of 2017, they split, but in December of that year, they spent New Years together in Japan, and by February 2018, they were rumored to be back together. Perry confirmed the news in April 2018. In February 2019, they got engaged.

This couple called off their four-year-long engagement in 2009, got re-engaged in 2010 and had two children during their marriage. In 2015, they filed for divorce, but in 2016, they had their third child together and reconciled. In April 2019, Fox filed to dismiss the divorce after their 2017 reconciliation.
Jenny Slate and Chris Evans
Slate and Evans met on the set of Gifted (2015) and began dating in mid 2016; the pairing was confirmed by May. They broke up in February 2017; after this, Slate told Vanity Fair that she didn't like all the media coverage about her relationship. In October 2017, the two were blatantly flirting on Twitter. She and Evans got back together around November 2017, when Evans posted a video where Slate can be distinctly heard laughing in the background. They spark engagement rumors in January, but by March 2018, Evans confirmed, in so many words, to The New York Times that he and Slate wee over. Gomez and Bieber made their debut as a couple at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2011, which led to Bieber renting out the entire Staples Center for their date night. They broke things off at the end of 2012, confirmed they were back together in September 2014, then broke things off that November. They seemed to be heating up again toward the beginning of 2018, then were done for good. In 2019, Gomez released "Lose You to Love Me" about her turbulent relationship with Bieber.

Here's an on-again, off-again story that ended happily. Biel and Timberlake took a break in 2011, and in July of that year, Timberlake talked to Vanity Fair about the pain of their separation. "In my 30 years, she is the most special person, okay? I don't want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me—for instance, her," he said. That same month, they were spotted hanging out again, and in December, Timberlake proposed. Biel and Timberlake got married in 2012. They now share a son, Silas.
Jude Law and Sienna Miller
The actors met in 2003 on the set of their movie, Afie. They got engaged in 2004, then Law had his infamous cheating scandal in 2005. They split at the end of 2006, then reconciled (briefly) in December 2009 and were reportedly planning to move back in together. By February 2011, they were finished for good.
Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama
The two first connected in 2010 but split in 2012. They reconciled publicly in 2014, and in 2015, Lovato shared a thank you to Valderrama on her third anniversary of sobriety. They ended things in 2016.

Disick reportedly proposed to Kardashian in January 2017, and she turned him down again. They continue to have confusing twists and turns in their relationship as they raise their kids. They broke up in 2009, but these two were off and on for much of the two years prior to that. Last year, Lohan told Howard Stern that she and Ronson were "more friends than anything."

Lopez and the back-up dancer were on and off again so many times between 2011 and 2016 that she opened up about it to Wendy Williams in March 2016. "It's like, 'Bye,' then we get back together and then, 'Hi,'" she said.

John Cena and Nikki Bella
Bella and Cena went on their first date in 2012, and he proposed in 2017 after many bumps in between. The couple split in April 2018 and allegedly got back together the month after that. They have both moved on since then. Bella is now engaged to professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev.

The pair reportedly met at Paris Fashion Week in 2014, and by May 2016, they were confirmed to be together. By September of that year they called things off. A year later, they got back together.
