It’s true that Taylor Swift has dominated conversations about celebrity football fans this NFL season—but in reality, there are tons of other celebs excited to tune in for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11.
Swift has been credited with introducing many within her own fan base to football—and even growing the Kansas City Chiefs’ female audience as she rooted for her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Despite the Chiefs’ popularity, many celebs are breaking with Swift on this one, choosing instead to cheer for the San Francisco 49ers as the two teams find themselves in yet another Super Bowl matchup, their first since 2020.
These are the celebs cheering for the 49ers at this year’s Super Bowl.
Jeremy Renner
Mayor of Kingstown’s Jeremy Renner has been a 49ers fan for a long time, and he’s thrilled that his team has another shot at the Super Bowl this year. The Hurt Locker actor, who is appearing in a Super Bowl ad for Silk, praised 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s “underdog” story in a recent post on X, writing, "this young man with fortitude , mental toughness , and strong support system will lead him places FAR BEYOND THIS SUPERBOWL!”

Matt Bomer
Another 49ers diehard is Matt Bomer, who recently posted a photo of himself attending the “unforgettable” NFC Championship game at Levi’s Stadium on Jan. 28. In the photo, Bomer sported a denim jacket that featured a 49ers logo. “See you at the Super Bowl!” the White Collar actor wrote on Instagram, adding a nod to the team’s #doitforthebay slogan.
Olivia Culpo
Olivia Culpo is engaged to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, so it’s unsurprising that she’ll be rooting for the San Francisco team on Super Bowl Sunday. Fans of the model loved a recent video she posted with her fiancé that showed the couple hugging and chest bumping on the field. She captioned the video with a sweet message on Instagram after the team’s NFC Championship win, writing, “you deserve it all Christian.”
Dave Franco
Another famous name the 49ers have on their fan list is Dave Franco, who praised Purdy last year after the quarterback stepped in to start with the team and launched them on a winning streak. Franco even agreed during an appearance last year on The Rich Eisen Show that he could see himself playing Purdy in a biopic somewhere down the line—a prospect Franco seemed to love.
Harry Shum Jr.
The Grey’s Anatomy cast may be split on which team to root for this Super Bowl, but Harry Shum Jr. knows exactly which team he’s backing. In a hilarious Instagram video he and co-star Anthony Hill shared earlier this month, Shum identified himself as a very serious 49ers fan.
“There will be Gold, Red and Yellow blood shed over here,” Shum joked in his Instagram caption, writing that there was some Chiefs-49ers “rivalry” on the hit ABC show’s set.
Andy Samberg
Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg will be backing the 49ers this weekend following years of support for the San Francisco team. He even promoted some 49ers-branded Levi’s jackets in 2014 on X, then Twitter, along with his fellow Lonely Island members Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer.

Katharine McPhee
American Idol alum Katharine McPhee has performed the national anthem at multiple NFL games, but her loyalty is to the 49ers. McPhee, the 2006 American Idol runner-up, has been photographed several times wearing 49ers hats while attending games in support of her favorite team.
