Celine Dion Mingles With Hockey Players During Rare Appearance Amid Health Battle

Celine Dion entertained the Edmonton Oilers hockey team during a rare public outing amid her ongoing battle with stiff person syndrome.
The 55-year-old Canadian singer had everyone laughing during her appearance as she parodied a hockey player in the locker room, telling the team that watching from the sidelines has always brought her so much enjoyment.
"Exciting to me — those big guys, like, just on flat shoes," Dion said in a clip shared on the Edmonton Oilers' official Instagram page earlier this week. "I cannot imagine on skates with all the equipment going, like," she quipped while pretending to squat with a hockey stick in hand.
It wasn't just members of the Edmonton, Canada-based team that were cracking up, but a good chunk of social media users as well.
"OMG Celine Dion is gorgeous ?????? and funny <3," one cheered.
"he's giggling and kicking his feet so hard," a second fan commented, specifically calling out NHL star Zach Hyman who chuckled throughout the clip while standing directly to Dion's left.
"Celine is a national treasure,” another quipped.
"Glad to see Celine looking healthy again #NationalTreasure," someone else wrote.
The "My Heart Will Go On" songstress went public with her health battle in December 2022, after postponing several tour dates due to experiencing painful and persistent muscle spasms. She was later diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare, painful and disruptive autoimmune neurological condition.
At the time, she discussed the diagnosis in depth in a video post on her Instagram account, saying in part, “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.”
Since receiving her diagnosis, Dion has remained relatively private about her health, though her sister has shared numerous updates.
The Grammy winner has also kept a low profile, though she recently made a surprise appearance as a presenter at the 2024 Grammys and was also spotted at another hockey game last fall.
