Celine’s Hedi Slimane Is Bringing the Mediterranean Sun to the Selfridges Corner Shop
LONDON — Hedi Slimane’s Plein Soleil capsule collection for Celine is taking another trip around London this summer.
The French luxury brand is taking over Selfridges Corner Shop space from June 17 to July 13. Last year, it took up space on the ground floor of Harrods.

The display at the department store will feature a customized Celine Mini Moke that was used in the brand’s La Collection de Saint-Tropez collection. The car features the brand’s mirrored C, otherwise known as the triomphe, on a wooden steering wheel; a monogrammed canvas hood; a tan leather dashboard; wicker seats, and a spare olive green wheel that’s decorated with the triomphe logo.
The collection is inspired by the French Riviera and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, both places dear to the brand’s artistic and image director. This was his way of integrating the seaside and city into one collection.
Pieces in the collection include a blouse in tulle with sequin flower embroidery; a leopard print bikini top; flared denim jeans; a striped crochet black and white minidress, and gladiator sandals.
There’s even a dash of Celine’s lifestyle offerings such as a deckchair and a petanque set.
This year’s Plein Soleil collection was photographed by Slimane along the Amalfi Coast in Sorrento, Italy.
Last month, across the pond, Celine released a 14-minute film shot mainly in the Mojave Desert to showcase its men’s fall 2024 collection, set to the soundtrack of Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique.”
The grand and romantic piece of music captured the imagination of the-then 11-year-old Slimane, and added resonance to the dramatic collection that played out in black, white and gray with flashes of gold and silver.
