The holidays are almost here!

A heavy dose of Christmas cheer is just what this year needs. If you’re like us, you’re probably trying to make your home feel extra magical. But decorating the tree and finding the perfect gifts can only go so far. Because as any true Christmas fanatic knows, the best thing you can wake up to on December 25 is a white-covered wonderland outside your window. But is that even a possibility this year?

Of course, the answer depends on where you live. The smarty pants meteorologists at AccuWeather released their Christmas 2020 weather predictions, and they broke down the chances of snow for several regions. Here’s what Lead Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok has in mind.

It’s looking good for certain Northwestern states along the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley, like Tennessee, northern Mississippi, northern Alabama, northern Georgia, western North Carolina, and southern Kentucky. Areas in the Midwest also have higher-than-normal chances.

Those with historically high-percentages, such as the central Rockies and northern Plains, will likely see some snow, too. On the opposite side, the interior Southwest’s odds are lower than historically normal.

If you’re on the East Coast, it’s a toss-up as of now. “This year, there’s just a slightly better chance, because of the storm situation setup, that Boston and New York City could have a little bit of snow,” Pastelok said.

But even if it’s just a few flurries instead of the Accuweather benchmark of 1 inch of snow, any amount of frosty fun should be accepted in 2020.

“For me, if it snows on Christmas—even if it flakes, it’s a white Christmas,” he said.
