Chanel stole this look from every working woman
During Chanel’s spectacular Spring-Summer 2019 Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a real-life beach filled with sand, lapping waves, and lifeguards. It even had Baywatch alum Pamela Anderson in attendance. But one style trick Chanel showcased on its runway is something every working woman has tried before: carrying two bags at once.
Models strutted down the sandy catwalk wearing two Chanel quilted handbags across their bodies at once. Many of them had on raffia sun hats and classic Chanel tweed tops and skirts, and carried sandals in their hands (they were barefoot on the sand, of course).
The notion of carrying two bags simultaneously is one every working woman can relate to. Especially on commutes, carrying a work tote with your laptop and a personal bag with your wallet and keys is pretty much standard. Granted, not every working woman is able to afford a Chanel handbag, let alone two, but this just highlights the practical move that women have been doing for years.
This handbag “double-fisting,” as Eva Chen called it in her Instagram story, might not be anything new, but don’t be surprised if you start seeing women carry two of the same bags at once — all thanks to Chanel.
