Y’all ready for a woke feminist baby costume for Halloween? Like many mothers of daughters before me, ever since my girl Anokhi came into the world, I’ve felt even more fired up about women’s rights, gender parity, and securing a bright future for my little spark of hope. This timing has happened to coincide with the entirety of society waking up and speaking up, and while a lot of what’s going on is a bit overwhelming, I’m proud to be raising Anokhi at a time when underrepresented people are fighting to make their voices heard.
So how better to set her up for feminist success than to channel the OG leader of the feminist movement, Gloria Steinem?
The founder of Ms. magazine, co-founder of the Women’s Media Center, and current political organizer and lecturer — at 84 years old, Steinem is still traveling internationally acting as spokesperson for issues of equality the world over.
