Channing Tatum Planning to Remake This Patrick Swayze Blockbuster Film
In a new interview, the actor revealed his production company has the rights to the classic flick.
Channing Tatum has his eyes on the prize: a brand new version of beloved '90s flick, Ghost.
During an interview for Vanity Fair's February 2023 cover story, the Magic Mike star sat down with Jessica Pressler for brunch and a pottery lesson, which, serendipitously, steered the conversation to the famed film.
“Now I know why they put this in Ghost,” Tatum mused, observing the piece he'd just made, which resembled a vagina. “This whole process is very, very sexual.”
“Ghost was great," Pressler mumbled distractedly as she fought with her own clay project, leading Channing to reveal that his production company, Free Association, actually has the rights to the movie.
He's even trying to remake the film, with Tatum, 42, of course, in the running for Patrick Swayze's iconic role. “But we’re going to do something different,” he added, calling out some of the problematic stereotypes the original displayed. “I think it needs to change a little bit and have our…”
Unfortunately, Pressler's lack of pottery skills bested both of them, interrupting Tatum's thought process as her clay wheel made "an angry spluttering sound," and the conversation quickly moved on, leaving far too many questions unanswered, and us wondering what exactly he thinks the remake needs.
In other, less mysterious Swayze-related news, a Dirty Dancing sequel is slated to hit theaters early next year. Jennifer Grey reprises her role as Baby, and Lionsgate is reportedly in talks with the late actor's estate to incorporate his presence in one way or another.
Perhaps Tatum will take a page from their book, and we'll see Swayze back on our screens not once, but twice?
