Your Character Matters: A Porterville student with a kind heart
PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE) – “I’ve never seen her be mean to anyone, ever.”
Sixth-grade-teacher at Porterville’s Roche Elementary Cassie Rapp can’t say enough about one of her students. She says Izamary Merida Solano is a blessing to have in class.
“She’s always there to help somebody when they need help. She just has a lot of respect for adults and peers and she’s just very naturally kind-hearted,” said Rapp.
Izamary may be soft-spoken, but she stepped up to help without question when a new girl at the school needed a deskmate.
“I was just so proud of her for being ok with having someone sit next to her as a brand new student to our class, and she’s never met this student at all but she was just, ‘Oh, I’ll sit next to her.’ That’s just a testimony to her kind heart,” Rapp said.
“I know how it feels like. When I came to this school I didn’t know anyone. I try my best to help people feel comfortable in the school,” Izamary said.
Izamary says she can relate to her new friend Crystal. She understands what it is like to be the new one in class.
“She’s kind and pretty nervous and I could help her with that sometimes, and I’m nervous myself too and I know how it feels like,” she said.
So, congratulations to Izamary Merida Solano of Roche Elementary in Porterville. Your kind heart and helpfulness are perfect examples of your great character.
