Charles “Won’t Have the Time” to Meet With Harry Before the Coronation

Another day, another piece of royal family coronation drama gossip to sift through. This update comes from an anonymous member of Team Charles who says that even though the King *really* wants Prince Harry to come to the coronation in May, he won’t actually have time to, you know, hang out with his son one-on-one during the visit.

The comment seems to be a response to a report from The Mirror claiming that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have made it clear they won’t attend the coronation if they’ll be walking into a “toxic” situation and that Harry wants to have a “summit” with his dad (/other family members) ahead of the big event.

“Charles adores Harry and wants him to be there. But he has a coronation to organize,” a source described as a friend of King Charles told the Daily Beast earlier this week. “He simply won’t have the time to organize a special meeting with Harry.”

And a meeting with other key members of the royal family (namely Harry’s brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton) seems *highly* unlikely rn. According to the Daily Beast, “There is considered to be zero probability among William and Kate’s friends that William would ‘apologize’ to Harry.”

“No. What should he apologize for?” a friend of Will’s reportedly said when asked if the Prince of Wales was likely to apologize to Harry (because Harry has publicly said he and Meghan want an apology from the royal family for, well, pretty much everything mentioned in Spare and Harry & Meghan).

While an apology might not be absolutely necessary to get the Sussexes to the coronation, the Mirror source said Harry has definitely made his and Meghan’s conditions for attending clear to the Firm.

“Harry has been very clear and his position hasn’t wavered—he isn’t going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral,” the source explained. “He’s said he wants to reconcile with his family and it’s their call, but so far nothing has changed.”
