The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), hosted by Nicki Minaj, is happening tonight with a live show from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.—and Parade takes you there for a look at the nominees, performers and presenters as they walk the red carpet.

The star-packed performer lineup for the night includes Anitta, Cardi B, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, M?neskin, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, Shakira, Stray Kids and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

Set to present are Bebe Rexha, Charli D’Amelio, Coco Jones, Dixie D’Amelio, Emily Ratajkowski, French Montana, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Jared Leto, Madelyn Cline, Rita Ora and Sabrina Carpenter.

In addition, Sean “Diddy” Combs will be presented with the prestigious Global Icon Award, and perform live for the first time since 2005. Diddy is third recipient of the Global Icon Award, following Foo Fighters (2021) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (2022).

Then Shakira will receive MTV’s coveted Video Vanguard Award, presented by Toyota, and perform live for the first time since 2006. Shakira will become the first South American artist to receive the Video Vanguard Award. She follows in the footsteps of Rihanna, P!nk, Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliott and Nicki Minaj

The 2023 VMAs air live tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, CMT, and Logo.
