Cherokee Civic Theatre hosting auditions for Christmas show
The Cherokee Civic Theatre, Inc. is holding Open Auditions for “Christmas for a Little Princess” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 and 2 p.m. Sunday Sept. 15. Inspired by the classic children’s book, “A Little Princess” by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this play is adapted by Sheilah O’Heaney.
“Christmas for A Little Princess” is the heartwarming story of Sara Crewe, whose adventuring father places her in an elite girls’ school in Galveston – but disappears while in South America. Sara is clever and imaginative but even her upbeat attitude is sorely tried by her sudden change from ‘princess’ to pauper. Aided by true & loyal friends – with some mischievous next-door neighbors - Sara bravely endures her new life and hopes for a Christmas miracle: to be reunited with her dear papa.
Director Sheilah O’Heaney and Producer Judy Faye Garner welcome all interested persons to audition. No experience is necessary. Audition as a family or try out just to have some fun.
Roles needed include:
– Two or three adult males (to portray ages 25 to50)
– Five or six adult females (to portray ages 25 to 65)
– 10 to 15 female youths (to portray ages 6 to14)
– Three male youths (to portray ages 8 to14)
One adult male role will need a French or Spanish accent. Young Sara will read a passage in French or Spanish
