Chick-fil-A seeking approvals to open in Nanuet with a special pick-up design
Chick-fil-A is closer to securing its first location in Rockland.
The company has filed an application and is working through Clarkstown land use boards for the necessary approvals, with the goal of opening in mid to late 2024 at 52 Route 59 in Nanuet. If approved, it would be the largest Chick-fil-A in the Northeast, counting pickup lanes and outside grounds. So explained Town Supervisor George Hoehmann, who said the deal is something the town has been working on for a number of years.
The restaurant itself, he said, would be its standard size but would have multiple turning lanes to mitigate traffic build-up. That means "double stacking" lanes ? two lanes to first order and then pick up your food. This, he said, would avoid the kind of bottlenecking seen at other locations, in particular in Ramsey, New Jersey, the company's closest location.

He said Chick-fil-A has been working closely with the town to come up with a design that works.
"This is an exciting time," he said. "This stretch of road, from Route 59 to Route 304, near the Spring Valley border, is a highly sought after area with a lot going on in terms of retail and restaurants."
That includes a revamped White Castle that should open later this year, as well as a brand new drive-thru Starbucks at the intersection of West Nyack Road and Route 59 that should open in early 2024. (Construction will begin later this year.)
Chick-fil-A, it should be noted, is quickly moving into the Lower Hudson Valley after years with no presence. The fast-food chain has already been approved for locations in Yonkers and on the Greenburgh/White Plains border in Westchester.
