Pasta and poems and so much more – these new books are wonderful additions to your home or your classroom. Make reading time fun (and sweet) with new stories for little library kids.

“Left Hand, Right Hand”

When you are a toddler, the best books engage the senses. This board book starts the learning process of knowing left from right, and it does so with wonderful textures that little ones can touch (and probably taste, but that’s up to you).

“You Are Loved”

by Sujean Rim (Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books, ages 4 – 8)

Children need to know down to the cellular level that they are loved just as they are. All of nature celebrates their very existence. That reminder in this sweet picture book makes for a perfect bedtime story. Send them to sleep secure in the knowledge that they are treasured.

“Pasta Pasta Lotsa Pasta”

by Aimee Lucido, illustrated by Mavisu Demirag (Beach Lane Books, ages 4 – 8)

Pasta Pasta Lotsa Pasta

This is a delightful tongue twister of a picture book, loaded with so many different kinds of pasta and so many people ringing the doorbell. Lotsa pasta and lotsa fun in this one!

“Dalmartian: A Mars Rover's Story”

by Lucy Ruth Cummins (Atheneum Books for Young Readers, ages 4 – 8)

The dedication from the author/illustrator is “to all the dogs I’ve loved before,” so you know this one will go straight for the heart. And it does, in a most lovely bit of make believe – or is it? Bedtime with a beloved pup is central here, so it makes for a wonderful end to the day.

“Windsongs – Poems about Weather”

by Douglas Florian (Beach Lane Books, ages 4 – 8)

Fun stuff here – this is a wonderful introduction to themed poetry for elementary school ages. Read the poems and then learn about the weather with the extensive glossary.
