Chip and Joanna Gaines’s Coffee Shop Now Has a Name and an Opening Date

Big news: Shabby-chic business owners Chip and Joanna Gaines have an official opening date for their new coffee shop in Waco, Texas.

The venture was first revealed by the Waco Tribune-Herald and has been in the works since February 2019.

Magnolia spokesman John Marsicano also confirmed the project with People back in February, saying, “Our tentative plan is to open by year’s end.” True to his word, Marsicano just revealed that Magnolia Press Coffee Co. will open its doors this fall.

Joanna shared the story behind the name choice in a recent blog post, saying, “We kept coming back to this idea of a French press and the slower (but very rewarding) process of making a rich, good cup of coffee. It felt symbolic for what we hope people find here with us—a spot to slow down, to take it all in, and to simply savor the moment. In a world where everything feels rushed and fast-moving, there’s a familiar and worthwhile pause waiting for us in a good cup of coffee.”

Of course, this isn’t the only hospitality venture for the former Fixer Upper stars. They’ve also opened Silos Baking Co. and the Magnolia Table restaurant (in addition to their home goods store, Magnolia Market) in the same central Texas city.

According to the original report, the the coffee shop will include a to-go window along with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, and early plans include a full-service coffee bar, fresh-baked pastries and an assortment of teas.

From the digital renderings, Magnolia Press looks a little bit like Starbucks-meets-shiplap. (But is anyone surprised?)
