Chipotle employee fired after allegedly slapping co-worker in 'play' fight
Police responded to a call of an assault and battery on Monday at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in Greenville, South Carolina, after an employee allegedly slapped his coworker.
The victim told responding officers that she and the coworker were “play” fighting while closing the restaurant, Fox Carolina reported. The woman said that she put a small amount of pepper down the man’s shirt and in return, he hit her in the face with an open hand. She was left with a red mark on her face and felt a headache.
A manager, who was there to witness the incident, immediately terminated the suspect.
When police arrived at the restaurant, the woman asked the police officers to document the incident but was unsure if she planned to press charges, Fox Carolina reported. South Carolina separates assault crimes into four categories. In this instance, if charges are pressed, it would most likely fall under third-degree assault, which is punishable by a fine up to $500 and 30 days in jail.
Neither the Greenville Police Department nor Chipotle Mexican Grill did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
