Chloe Bailey, 22, defends sharing sexier side with fans: ‘I have self-confidence’
Chloe Bailey is defending herself after getting flak for posting risque videos to social media.
On Sunday, the 22-year-old singer and actress took to Instagram Live to discuss body image and self-love. She also took the time to respond to critics who called her out for sharing her sexier side.
"It’s really hard for me to think of myself as a sexual being or an attractive being quite frankly," she admitted. "So, when I see all the uproar about my posts and stuff, I’m a bit confused. Like, I really don’t understand because I’ve never seen myself in that way or in that light. So I take it as a huge compliment that you all see me as a sexual, sexy being. I don't post what I post to get attention. I don't need that."
Last month, Chloe and her sister Halle created solo Instagram accounts after years of sharing a handle, but Chloe caused quite a stir with some of her first posts, including a “Buss It Challenge” and a video she shared of herself saging her room in a T-shirt and underwear.
“I’m such a nerd, like I’m not worldly at all, but when I perform and when I make music, and when I dance, that’s when I get to tap into the sexier side of myself. And that’s where I find my confidence. I’m not gonna cry this time,” she said as she began to tear up. “So it really means a lot to me when I can finally get to a place where I share who I really am. And I’ve been like really insecure for a long time and I’m finally like at that place where I have self-confidence. And I’m really happy that I get to share that with you all.”
She also gave women an important message about being themselves no matter what: "For every woman out there, don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable."
Following her emotional video, fans came to Chloe’s defense with one person tweeting, “The conversation around Chloe Bailey is interesting to me because I don’t think folks realize she’s only one year younger than Kylie Jenner and I’m sure if Kylie posted these videos no one would give a heck.”

In an interview with Madamenoire last month, Chloe and Halle talked about the struggle of shedding their teen image.
“Of course, since we started out young, people are definitely like, ‘Oh wow, you guys really grew up before my eyes,'” Halle said. “But I’ll be 21 in March and Chloe is 22 right now and it’s just a beautiful journey we get to go on as women.”
Chloe also shared how she gets her “body-ody-ody.”
“It makes me happy when people compliment my body a lot, but honestly, it’s a struggle sometimes keeping up with it,” Chloe explained. “So I’m grateful to God for my genes. And I’m grateful to God for giving me a healthy body so I can work out safely and burn the weight off because I love food. And I stress eat! We’re vegan but the thing is, with being vegan, just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean it’s healthy. You just gotta do you and what works for you.”
