Chris Evans Won’t be Returning as Captain America…Yet
Don’t assume Captain America’s return is a given. Chris Evans, who plays the iconic Marvel superhero, shot down rumours he’ll soon be reprising the role.
Appearing on The View, Evans was asked about reuniting with his Marvel co-stars. “You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me,” Evans said.
“I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlet [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back.”
We last saw Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. That film neatly wrapped up his character arc and set the stage for a new group of heroes.
Saying that, Evans isn’t adverse to the idea of returning to the role. “Look, I would never say never, but I really — I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”
The next Captain America movie, titled Captain America: Brave New World, will release February 14, 2025. You can see Evans as an evil ex-boyfriend as the Scott Pilgrim cast return for a Netflix anime series.
