Chrissy Teigen undergoes eyebrow transplant surgery: 'Do not pluck them all off like I did'
Chrissy Teigen is making a change.
The star, 35, took to her social media this weekend to chronicle her experience undergoing eyebrow transplant surgery. The cosmetic procedure transfers hair grafts, commonly referred to as plugs, to the brow area in order to create a fuller look, according to Healthline.
In her first Instagram Story on the topic, Teigen explained that she's undergoing the procedure because she hates to wear makeup. Instead of having to fill in her brows all the time, she wants to have a more natural look.
"I never wear makeup if I can avoid it so I was so excited for this eyebrow transplant surgery where they take the hairs from the back of your head," Teigen wrote on the initial photo, which tagged Beverly Hills plastic surgeons Dr. Jason Diamond and Dr. Jason Champagne.
During the procedure, the "donor hair" is "harvested" from the back of head. Then, "recipient sites" are made in the traditional eyebrow area, so the hair follicles can be transplanted.
"Through techniques known as Follicular Unit Transfer (FUT) and/or Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) which Dr. Champagne utilizes to move individual hairs from an area of greater density on your scalp (and in some cases, from your body) to your eyebrows, Dr. Champagne is able to achieve a completely natural-looking fuller, more shapely brow," Dr. Champagne's website reads.
Later, Teigen showed off the immediate effects of the eyebrow transplant. Snuggled up in bed with a cozy blanket and a bare face, Teigen told her followers it was "so cool" to undergo the cosmetic procedure.
"This is right after surgery!!" she wrote. "Crazy!"
Later, Teigen showed off the final product of the eyebrow transplant, which will take a little time to settle before it looks entirely natural.
D"A little dark from the pencil but it's so cool to have brows again!" Teigen shared, along with a photo of herself. "Teens: o not pluck them all off like i did!!"
In September, Teigen shared that she'd gone to Diamond for buccal fat removal, a cosmetic procedure designed reduce cheek fullness and add facial contours.
