Christian Louboutin Makes Shoes Out of Leftover Fabrics for Golden Globes 2024
Christian Louboutin arrived on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday in a classy tuxedo with details blossoming throughout the ensemble. The French fashion designer donned a dark navy and black suit, with sunglasses in his chest pocket, waiting for their time to shine. Louboutin’s attire included black pointed lapels, a matching, thin cummerbund, and gold buttons down his white dress shirt. His black butterfly bow tie was highlighted by a subtle decorative pattern.
But the designer saved the most eye-catching portion of his attire for none other than his shoes. Louboutin wore black loafers covered with red, pink, gold and green metallic florals. The slip-on loafers are from his namesake brand, featuring the classic red soles that matched the carpet, calling attention to Louboutin’s 2023 “Flamencaba” collaboration with Spanish actress and model Rossy de Palma. Atop his shoes Louboutin had single, three-dimensional, dark red roses with sparkling crystals sitting throughout the petals and at their centers.

“I’m lucky enough to design shoes, and sometimes I take leftover fabrics from other shoes and use them to make new shoes. These shoes I’m wearing are made from leftover fabric from the women’s collection,” Louboutin said to WWD.
The “Flamencaba” collaboration is a limited-edition launch paying homage to the lush flamenco history of Andalusia. “Flamencaba” offered several pieces, including the Flamenco tote, Nicol is Back mules, and the Panettone wallet.
According to Louboutin, his statement-making bow tie that accompanied his outfit was actually a last-minute creative decision, as it was supposed to serve another purpose.
“It is a bow tie night, and I originally had this bow tie molded onto a shoe,” the designer said to WWD. “However, it looked a bit too big on the shoe, and I thought that such a pity. Instead, I took the bow and used it as a bow tie, which I thought was perfect.”
