Christie Brinkley, 67, Shared the Sunscreen Brand That Keeps Her Skin Glowing
  • Christie Brinkley shared her favorite sunscreen brand that keeps her skin protected for hours while she gardens.

  • “While I’m overdoing it, I’m taking care of my skin and not getting burnt,” she said.

  • The former supermodel, 67, used to love a sun tan, but has learned the dangers of one over the years.

If you follow Christie Brinkley on Instagram, you’ve seen that she spends a lot of time in her garden. Her grid boasts gorgeous photos of watermelon peonies, purple rhododendrons, and daffodils, but with all of that tending comes a whole lot of sun exposure—which is why the former supermodel, 67, always keeps her favorite sunscreen at the ready.

In a recent interview with Coveteur, Brinkley shared her favorite ways to take care of her body. “I love bath salts because I am always overdoing it in the garden or in whatever I am doing,” she admitted. “Supergoop sunblock is my absolute favorite, as well. So while I’m overdoing it, I’m taking care of my skin and not getting burnt.”

Supergoop—a sunscreen line beloved by many—offers a diverse selection of SPFs, including their cult-favorite Unseen Sunscreen for an invisible finish, Glowscreen for a dewy finish, and Mattescreen for those with oily skin. There brand also offers an SPF setting powder, a sunscreen stick, a vitamin C serum with SPF, and so much more.

Dermatologists love it, too. “This brand is cosmetically elegant, easy to layer, and great on oily, combination, or dry skin,” Mona Gohara, M.D., associate clinical professor of dermatology at the Yale School of Medicine and member of Prevention’s Medical Review Board, says in our list of the best sunscreens of 2021.

Although Brinkley used to praise the look of sun-kissed skin, over the years, she’s learned how dangerous it can be, leading to sun damage, premature wrinkles, and potentially skin cancer.

“In my first beauty book, I literally had a couple pages on how to get the best tan. One of the things I recommended (and I apologized in my other beauty book) was sitting near the edge of the water for maximum water reflection on you, keeping water droplets on you because they would magnify the sun, and rubbing some baby oil on you,” she told The Cut in 2018. “Now we know it’s the number-one culprit in premature aging.”

Since that realization, the actress has done her best to keep her daughters—Sailor Brinkley-Cook, 22, and Alexa Ray Joel, 35—from making the same mistakes she did. “I’ve hovered over them as children, running around with sunblock,” she told Byrdie last year. “That’s what I would tell any 20-year-old—it’s the most important thing. Use proper creams to protect your skin.”

And when she feels like she needs extra coverage and glow, she’ll throw on some tinted moisturizer, per Coveteur. Her latest fave is Charlotte Tilbury’s Healthy Glow.
