How to Make Christmas Cracker Candy
1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Alternate the saltine crackers in a single layer on the bottom of tray.
2. Place the butter, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a medium-sized saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to boil for 5 minutes stirring the mixture as it cooks (please set a timer).
3. Pour the hot mixture over the crackers. Spread to evenly coat the crackers.
4. Place tray in the oven and bake for 3-5 minutes. Turn off the heat. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the warm caramel.
5. Place back in the oven for 2 minutes. The chips will be shiny and melting. Use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over the top.
6. Now, add your favorite toppings to the melted chocolate.
7. Let the crackers cool to room temperature, then move to the refrigerator and cool for at least 2 hours before breaking and serving.
