Ciara was named Revlon’s newest global brand ambassador on Tuesday, and she stepped out looking gorgeous as ever. The singer’s waist-length hair is better described as a mane, and her makeup look was equally fierce. But looking past that mass of hair, we couldn’t help but notice how perfectly sculpted her face looks. We can credit this, in part, to her fabulous bone structure, but Ciara has a little-known trick up her sleeve as well.

Her bronde locks seem to get longer and more majestic each time we see her, and this time, she puts Venus herself to shame. Her perfectly disheveled curls coil outwards to frame her face, and her highlights draw light to her face and make her eyes pop with brighter pieces surrounding her cheekbones. “Highlighting and shading certain parts of the hair can create the illusion of a different face shape, depending on what you want to accentuate,” colorist Nick Penna told Allure. “Just like the makeup technique, light shades are for highlighting and darker shades are for creating a shadow effect.”

Ciara’s makeup perfectly complemented the hair look, with major inner eye highlighter to bring light to her eyes. She kept the makeup look soft and pretty with a blush gloss on the lips and minimal contouring on her skin.
