Claire Danes is not a stranger to the red carpet (she's won three Emmys alone and has been nominated numerous times over). But at the 2016 Emmy Awards, she was a stranger to her gown—a golden Schiaparelli Haute Couture creation that she saw the first time just the day before.

"She's a busy person," Petra Flannery, Danes's stylist, tells us on Emmys night. "We had a fitting for the first time yesterday. I've been working with her for a long time, and we have a good rapport—I know what she likes and we've reached a point where we have a good groove. It's fun this way, too, because everything still feels fresh and new."

Flannery first spotted the dress during the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show in July (one of her favorite collections of all time) and hadn't been able to stop thinking about it since. It truly does look like a work of art, but Flannery assures us it's even more beautiful in person—and (surprise!) it wasn't at all heavy.

"It's made from a gold textured silk chiffon fabric, so it's very delicate, very light, with beautiful movement," she explains. "And the back is incredible, too—there's a leaf motif and it's joined together with thin straps made from organza. We knew that this was the one."

Flannery complemented the golden masterpiece of a gown with a careful selection of Forevermark diamonds—nothing too flashy to compete with the dress, yet nothing too small or discreet, either. Diamond studs and a two-stone diamond ring were just the pieces to round it all out. And despite the last-minute first-time fitting, Flannery says Emmys prep went by without a hitch.

And what did Claire think of the dress?

"She loved it," Flannery says. "She put it on and it was near perfect. The design laid so beautiful on her."
