'The Cleaning Lady' Star Adan Canto Dead at 42

Adan Canto, who starred in the first two seasons of The Cleaning Lady as Arman Morales, has died. He was 42.
The actor reportedly passed away after privately battling appendiceal cancer, as was reported by Deadline on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew," his reps at UTA, Entertainment360 and Viewpoint relayed in a statement. "Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many."
Canto, who recently gained attention for his performance in The Cleaning Lady, reportedly was unable to join the cast for filming season 3 when production began in December due to his condition, but Deadline reported that he planned to rejoin the show later on. The drama series is currently set to return on March 5.

Born in Ciudad Acu?a, Coahuila, Mexico, Canto initially pursued a career in music as a teenager, spending a few years as the lead singer of a jazz band called Del Canto. He started transitioning to acting with his first role on Estado de Gracia in 2009, before getting his first American television part in 2013 as Paul Torres in The Following.
Canto portrayed Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past the next year, followed by key roles in projects like Mixology, Blood & Oil, and more. Alongside The Cleaning Lady, his other most prominent role was in Designated Survivor. He played the character Aaron Shore, who becomes Vice President-elect of the United States in the political drama, appearing in all three seasons of the series.
Canto is survived by his wife and creative partner Stephanie Ann Canto, whom he married in 2017, and their two children, Roman, 3, and Eve, 1.
