Clever Cat 'Prescribes' Catnip After Watching Mom Suffer From a Migraine
It doesn't take years of studying animals to learn just how intuitive and understanding our furry friends can be. There's a reason dogs make such wonderful emotional support animals, after all, though pets of all species have a way of tuning into their humans' emotions when they need it the most. When you experience that kind of connection for yourself, it feels nothing short of magical. It's the definition of unconditional love!
One very lucky cat owner named Jessie got to experience this love firsthand while she was in the midst of a terrible migraine. Her sweet kitty, Roscoe, is a pro at 'talking' using a board of talking buttons, but he's never said anything quite like this before. He actually 'prescribed' catnip to his mom when he realized she was in pain, and yes--it's just as precious as it sounds. Take a look!
Aww! Roscoe is such a sweet and selfless cat, though it's quite impressive how he knew what was going on with Mom. My best guess is that his buttons work both ways: not only can this cat 'talk' to his mama, but she can communicate right back in a 'language' they both understand. She's likely used the 'head' button before!

But this affectionate cat doesn't just stop there, either. Once he understands that his mom is in pain, he even asks for something to help her. The only issue is that she didn't totally understand why he needed the catnip! She got the hint eventually but ultimately decided to stick with her normal medications. Good call! If that were me, though, I'd be tempted to pretend to eat the catnip just to help the caring kitty feel like he helped.
Catnip is More Than a Relaxing Substance for Cats
Naturally, @roscoesqueaks' viewers were just as impressed with the cat's intelligence and empathy. And it turns out he may be onto something, too. Commenter @s_unflower13 informed everyone, "Catnip tea does actually relax you, so Dr. Roscoe is correct." No way!
Actually, it's true--catnip tea and catnip oil both have headache-relieving properties. There are many ways to prepare and consume the catnip herb, whether by mouth or through the skin. However, it's vital to watch your intake, as large amounts of catnip can actually cause headaches instead of relieving them. For cats, though, rolling in catnip is like a dream come true.
It's so precious that Roscoe the gray cat went so far out of his way to insist on helping his mom. He really cares about her, and it's even cuter that he can show that love through words!
