A 'Clueless' Reboot About Cher's BFF Dionne Is Coming to Peacock
It's undeniable that Amy Heckerling's Clueless is a literal classic, so it makes sense that a new TV spin-off is on the way 25-years after the original movie's release.
According to Variety, a reboot focused on Cher's best friend, Dionne, is currently in development. Here's what we know so far about Dionne's new Clueless spin-off.
Peacock is developing the series.
While news of the reboot first broke in 2019, the idea didn't have a network attached at the time. Variety has now revealed that the new version of Clueless has found a home on NBC's streaming service, Peacock. Rejoice!
The reboot is a teen mystery following Cher's disappearance.
Dionne takes the lead in the new Clueless television series because her best friend, Cher, has disappeared. Per Variety, "The untitled comedy series is described as a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans."
Don't let the overtly hipster description put you off, though, as the Clueless reboot sounds like a cross between Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale, and Big Little Lies. As Variety continued, "How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?"
Stay tuned for more updates about the forthcoming Clueless reboot!
