Coach Jeneive Gordon’s story of survival inspires more stories of hope | Rosalind Tompkins
Here’s the thing, I have been writing this blog since 2012 and over the years I have had several themes beginning with the "Life Lessons Blog," then I moved to "What Brings Me Hope" with a few variations in between.
However, over the past several weeks I no longer felt excited about writing from the perspective of "What Brings Me Hope,” and it is not like I didn’t have anything to share that brought hope because I have participated in some amazing events and just waking up in the morning and feeling good in my spirit, soul, and body brings me hope.
I was thinking about ending the blog and moving on to other things until I met Coach Jeneive Gordon on my latest trip to Portland Jamaica.
I was invited to talk about the Practice of Hopeology at Green Team International’s Tenth Anniversary Conference by founder Dr. Anne Bailey. While in Portland, Jamaica, I experienced the beauty of the island and the people. It was breathtaking to be up in the hills overlooking the ocean.
During the ceremony, a petite woman with a big voice, Coach Jeneive, stood up to make a comment and then shared her story of surviving metastasizing breast cancer.
As I listened to her speak, I thought about how so many people who are experiencing cancer related illnesses need hope and I remembered what my husband and I went through when he was diagnosed with colon cancer and the only loud voices around us were the ones who talked about losing loved ones.
After speaking with Jeneive I was inspired by her story and decided to continue writing my blog but to share ‘Stories of Hope.’
Coach Jeneive Gordon has written a manual “Discern & Live” where she shares her story about how she transformed her life in 90 days.
She says in the book that “with firm faith in the Almighty One, prayer, and months of intensive research, she pursued a radical lifestyle change. By late 2016, she was divinely healed from breast cancer without mastectomy, chemotherapy, hormone treatment, or radiation.”
That is Jeneive's experience, and I also know about others (including my husband Kwame) who survived utilizing some of the aforementioned treatments. The great news is that they survived!
Welcome to "Stories of Hope" where I will focus on sharing stories about those who overcome challenges both big and small because we all could use a little more hope.
